The Washington Capitals will take on the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Caps will be at home after clinching the second seed in the MassMutual East Division and Boston coming in third.

This will also be the second straight matchup between the two teams after they played against each other in the final game of the season. Washington took home the win with a buzzer beater goal at the end of the third period. That win isn’t saying much considering that the Bruins rested a majority of their top lines and the Caps played their core players besides TJ Oshie and John Carlson out with injuries.

Washington and Boston split the eight game season series so there is truly no clear favorite. With Zdeno Chara facing his former team in his first playoff series not in a Bruins sweater, it should be one with a lot of exciting moments.

Oshie (lower body)  is listed as a game-time decision for the Caps, but Carlson will be back on the top defensive line as usual. Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ilya Samsonov are still under covid-19 protocols.

The Capitals projected starting lines are as follows:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Mantha
Sheary-Eller-Raffl
Sprong-Oshie-Wilson
Hagelin-Dowd-Hathaway
Orlov-Carlson
Dillon-Schultz
Chara-Jensen
Fehervary-Van Riemsdyk
Goalies on the ice: Vanecek (most likely starting), Anderson

Capitals power play units:
Power Play 1: Carlson, Ovechkin, Backstrom, Mantha, Oshie
Power Play 2: Orlov, Schultz, Eller, Wilson, Sheary
