The Washington Capitals have released their 2021 preseason schedule which will kick off in late September and conclude in early October. Expect the season to start around mid October. Washington will open up their preseason slate against the Boston Bruins on September 26 at Capital One Arena with a 5 p.m. puck drop.

The Caps will play six preseason games featuring three opponents. Three games will be at home while the other three will be on the road. The Caps will open with two home games with the second being against the New Jersey Devils on September 29.

The Caps will then play three consecutive games on the road. That road trip will begin on Oct. 2 against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. On the fourth they’ll head to Prudential Center to face the Devils before concluding their road trip on the sixth at TD Garden against the Bruins.

The preseason will conclude on Friday Oct. 8 against the Flyers at home. The Caps didn’t play in the preseason at all prior to the shortened 2021 season but went 5-1-0 in the 2019-20 preseason. The Caps all time preseason record is 170-128-33-16. The broadcast schedule and the complete 2021-22 regular season schedule will be released at a later date.

Although the games don’t count it’ll be a welcome sight having Caps hockey back as fans will get a first look at the new team. Another cool part about preseason hockey is that there will be position battles on the line depending on what the team does this offseason. If you haven’t seen the Caps in person yet, I’m sure you can find tickets to a preseason game at a bargain price.

We now have dates to look forward to and soon the complete regular season schedule will be released. We’ll then find out who the Caps will open up the season against.
