Capitals: Evgeny Kuznetsov has a great chance at beating Jonathan Huberdeau
Today at 3 p.m. Evgeny Kuznetsov will go up against Jonathan Huberdeau in an epic matchup.
It’s week two of the NHL Players Gaming Challenge and the final matchup of the week features Evgeny Kuznetsov of your Washington Capitals taking on Jonathan Huberdeau of the Florida Panthers.
After getting some practice with John Wayne of Caps Gaming a few weeks ago, Kuznetsov looked primed and ready for the challenge at hand. He has a solid opportunity of making us Caps fans proud by going the distance in the NHL Players Gaming Challenge.
It all starts this afternoon at 3 p.m. and Kuznetsov will look to win two out of three games to advance to the next round. We predict he’ll take it in three games winning the third game in overtime.

This season Kuznetsov has 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 points. Six of those goals have come on the power play hile the other 13 have come on even strength. 27 of Kuznetsov’s 33 assists are on even strength while the other six are on the power play.
Huberdeau is better on the stat sheet which is why Kuznetsov will take him down virtually. Huberdeau has 23 goals and 55 assists for 78 points.
18 of those goals came on even strength while the other five are on the power play while 31 assists are even strength while the other 24 helpers came on the power play.
Each player was drafted in the first round one year apart. Kuznetsov was selected in 2010 at 26th overall while Huberdeau was third overall in 2011. They’ve each made a name for themselves in the NHL. Kuznetsov led the playoffs in scoring in Washington’s run to the Stanley Cup in 2018. Huberdeau became the Panthers all-time scoring leader earlier this season.
It is sure to be an entertaining matchup. Can it match the hype of when Ovechkin took on Gretzky? Maybe not. But it’ll be close but Kuznetsov will ultimately come out on top. Check it out at 3 p.m. on the NHL’s Twitch.
