This calendar is a must have for Washington Capitals fans.
The Washington Capitals announced on Thursday that they’re selling a new calendar for 2021. Sadly it’s not a canine calendar but it’ll still be cool seeing an inside look at the players lives and families. That’s exactly what this calendar will feature plus them doing their favorite hobbies and activities away from the rink.
Every Cap is featured in this calendar including Henrik Lundqvist as players submitted photos to the team. The front and back features the players as if we were talking to them on Zoom. The front has Alex Ovechkin, John Carlson, Nicklas Backstrom, Lundqvist, Tom Wilson, Brenden Dillon, Carl Hagelin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Justin Schultz.
The back features Jonas Siegenthaler, Richard Panik, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Nick Jensen, Captain the team dog, Nic Dowd, Garnet Hathaway, Michal Kempny, and Ilya Samsonov.

Ovechkin’s calendar page features the Great 8 himself as well as his wife Nastya and his sons Sergei and Ilya. Nicklas Backstrom’s calendar page has Backy with his wife Liza and their children Haley, Vince, and Alizee. As you pass through the months you’ll get a different player and a small taste of their life off the ice.
These calendars benefit the Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation and you can purchase one online here. If you’d rather buy it in person, they’re available at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Nov. 23 and the team store at Capital One Arena the next day. One catch if you buy it online, get ready to pay up to 12 bucks for shipping.
There are a limited number of calendars available so get yours ASAP. They each cost $20. If you purchase one online, shipments will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 25. All orders placed after that date will be shipped within 3-4 business days of order placement. Keep in mind though that the shipping companies UPS, FedEx and USPS are experiencing seasonal delays.
Per the Caps, the MSE Foundation and the Capitals have raised nearly $570,000 for charity through the sale of their calendars since 2012.
This will be a fun calendar for what will hopefully be a better year. While it stinks that it won’t be puppy themed (my favorite was when they had them in the Stanley Cup), at least the Caps are going to release a calendar to their fans showcasing their life outside the rink. This will make a great holiday gift for the Caps fan on your list.
