The Washington Capitals now take their road warrior mentality up north to Buffalo against the Sabres.

The Washington Capitals are coming off an impressive and important 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins that they badly needed.

The win snapped a two game losing streak and continued their recent dominance over the Penguins. Nic Dowd had two goals. Richard Panik, Nicklas Backstrom, and T.J. Oshie added goals of their own and Braden Holtby made 26 saves on the 28 shots he faced for a .929 save percentage.

The Sabres are coming off a 3-1 loss to the red hot Philadelphia Flyers who are on the Caps tail for first place in the Metropolitan Division.

More from Capitals News

The Caps won the first meeting against the Sabres 6-1 on November 1 in D.C. The Caps have won five of their last six games against Buffalo.

In that win over the Sabres, the Caps got two goals from Jakub Vrana, and goals from Chandler Stephenson, Brendan Leipsic, Tom Wilson, and T.J. Oshie.

The Caps carry a 26-46-6-2 on the road against Buffalo and won last in last year’s meeting. Alex Ovechkin has 32 goals against the Sabres while Ilya Kovalchuk has 24 in his career.

The Caps will have just five more road games in the regular season after this one. Those will be games in Columbus, Pittsburgh, Florida, Detroit and back in Buffalo.
