Logan Thompson will be player to watch against Sharks

The Washington Capitals take on the San Jose Sharks tonight at 7 p.m. on Monumental Sports Network. The news from morning skate at MedStar Capitals Iceplex was that Logan Thompson was the first goalie off the ice so he will get the nod tonight.

Since his acquisition over the summer he has made an immediate impact winning his first seven starts of the season, marking the longest winning streak by a Capitals goaltender from the start of their tenure with the franchise. He also established a new franchise record for longest season point opening streak by a goaltender with an 8-0-1 record.

In 12 games played Thompson is 10-1-1 with a 2.56 goals against average which is good for 19th in the league per Sportlogiq along with being ranked sixth in goals saved above expected at 0.67. Thompson's save percentage is at .915 which is good for 20th. His slot save percentage is fourth in the league at .870. His inner slot save percentage is at .791 which is 31st. His 10 quality sarts is good for 10th in the league.

Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network asked Spencer Carbery about facing his ex ECHL South Carolina Stingrays pal in Ryan Warsofsky. He would reply:
